The shingles vaccine is a self-paid item in Hong Kong, with no government subsidy.

Product and course

Hong Kong currently uses the recombinant shingles vaccine Shingrix (manufacturer GSK), recommended for adults aged 50 and over and given as two doses, usually 2 to 6 months apart. The older live vaccine, Zostavax, has been discontinued.

Reference prices

  • Per dose: about HK$2,400–2,800.
  • Two-dose course (some packages include the doctor's consultation): about HK$5,000–5,600.

Because two doses are needed, budget for the full course rather than a single shot. These are indicative private-market ranges as of June 2026 and vary by clinic and promotion. Confirm the current fee and the two-dose arrangement with the clinic before you go.
