What you pay for the flu vaccine depends on whether you qualify for a government scheme, and which vaccine you choose.
Free (Government Vaccination Programme, GVP)
Eligible groups get the seasonal flu vaccine free, including adults aged 50+, pregnant women, children and adolescents aged 6 months to under 18, people with chronic illness, residential-care residents, and healthcare workers. The exact eligible categories are published each year — check the Centre for Health Protection page.
Subsidised (Vaccination Subsidy Scheme, VSS)
If you fall into a subsidised group but choose a private doctor, the government subsidises HK$260 per dose for 2025/26. You pay the difference between the doctor's fee and the subsidy, so the out-of-pocket amount varies by clinic.
Full self-pay
If you don't qualify for any subsidy, indicative private-market prices are:
- Standard quadrivalent inactivated vaccine (injection — e.g. Vaxigrip Tetra, Fluarix Tetra, Influvac Tetra): the most common, about HK$200–350 per dose.
- Quadrivalent live nasal-spray vaccine (FluMist): about HK$350–500, an option for needle-averse people of suitable age.
- Recombinant flu vaccine (e.g. Flublok, offered at some clinics for adults/older adults): about HK$400–500.
These are indicative private-market ranges as of June 2026 and vary by clinic, promotion, and whether a consultation fee is included. Confirm the current fee with the clinic before you go, and check the Centre for Health Protection to see whether you qualify for free or subsidised vaccination.
