Getting several vaccines at once is a well-studied, routine practice.
The immune system can handle it
The immune system deals with large numbers of bacteria and viruses from the environment every day. The antigens in a few vaccines are tiny by comparison. Getting them together doesn't dilute protection; each vaccine still produces its expected immune response.
It's how the children's programme works
The Hong Kong Childhood Immunisation Programme gives several vaccines in a single visit. This provides protection as early as possible and cuts the number of trips parents make with their children. The approach is backed by long-term evidence.
Flu shot and COVID-19 vaccine
Under informed consent, the COVID-19 vaccine can be given at the same visit as the seasonal flu vaccine, for convenience and better coverage. If you prefer to space them out, an interval of about 14 days is enough.
The few cases that need spacing
Some vaccines, especially two live-attenuated ones, may need a gap between them. When more than one vaccine is given together, health professionals follow current guidance on injection sites and timing.
