Can you carry on as normal after a jab? In most cases yes, with a few things worth keeping in mind.

Showering

Completely fine. You can shower as normal after a jab — just avoid scrubbing or irritating the injection site. Keeping the site clean is all that's needed.

Exercise

  • Avoid strenuous workouts on the day, especially if you feel tired, feverish or have a sore arm — let your body rest.
  • If you feel well, light to moderate activity is fine.
  • Listen to your body and don't push it.

Alcohol

There's no strict ban, but moderation is sensible. Drinking heavily can worsen common side effects like tiredness and headache, and makes it harder to tell whether you feel off because of the vaccine or a hangover. If you want a drink after a jab, keep it light and stay well hydrated.

The overall principle

The most important thing after a jab is to listen to your body: if you feel well, carry on as normal; if you feel tired or unwell, rest and drink plenty of water and give it a day or two. If discomfort is persistent or severe, see a doctor.
